Through a unified voice, the mission of YFVA is to promote and protect the Yuma vegetable industry.

yfva.jpg Beginning in 1947, the Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association has devoted its resources to promoting and protecting the Yuma agricultural industry. During the past year, YFVA has helped unify the vegetable industry.
  • We organized and sponsored Yuma County Ag Leaders meetings where Yuma legislators and agricultural organization leaders came together and discussed critical issues.
  • We brought the agricultural industry together at our acclaimed 2011 Southwest Ag Summit and the first annual Harvest Dinner.
  • We joined with other national organizations in responding to USDA's proposal for a National Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement as well as participating in revisions to the governing statutes and the renewal of the Arizona Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement.
  • And our lobbyist Shelly Tunis worked with legislators and Department of Agriculture officials to make sure agricultural funds were not swept and that fees were kept low.

We are always seeking new opportunities to promote and protect our members' interests.

When we look forward to the coming year, we foresee issues relating to state budget cuts and fund sweeps plus persistent immigration problems that translate into labor issues for the vegetable industry. YFVA will continue to assist our members by providing weather reports, holding our successful 2012 Southwest Ag Summit and protecting our industry at the Legislature and the state agencies.
