John B. Shadegg
John B. Shadegg, former U.S. Congressman, is a partner in Steptoe & Johnson’s Washington and Phoenix offices. Mr. Shadegg was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994 and served eight terms before retiring from Congress in 2010. He currently practices in Steptoe’s Government Affairs and Public Policy Group.
During his 16 years in Congress, Mr. Shadegg served on the Energy and Commerce Committee and a variety of subcommittees, including Energy and Power, Environment, Health, and Telecom. Mr. Shadegg was also named to the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. Along with his focus on energy and environmental policies, Mr. Shadegg is passionate about healthcare reform.
Mr. Shadegg will speak on issues of water, immigration and other issues of relevance.
Performing at the opening reception, Marshall Trimble is considered the “dean of Arizona historians” and has taught Arizona history at Scottsdale Community College for 40 years. His first book was published in 1977 by Doubleday & Company, New York. Since then he’s written more than twenty books on Arizona and the West. Trimble is one of the state’s most popular speakers and performers. He’s also an educator, lecturer, folk singer and stage performer.
This multi-talented historian has been called the “Will Rogers of Arizona.” Trimble appears frequently on radio and television as a goodwill ambassador for the state. Trimble has received many honors as a historian, writer and performer. In 1997, the governor of Arizona appointed him Official State Historian. In 2000, he was selected as one of Arizona’s representatives in the Library of Congress’ “Local Legacies.” Two years later he received the first “Copper Star Award”
